Still sick, and Zero Punctuation.

Howdy people, still sick today! If you enjoyed yesterday’s review of Bioshock you can visit the Zero Punctuation website that’s now linked in the “Hot Links” to your right. I’m sure you’ll find the rest of Yahtzee’s ramblings just as entertaining.

Birthday’s, Work and being Sick…

Well I haven’t updated my blog in quite some time so I guess I should fill you in with what’s been happening. On Saturday the 15th of September Jo and I had our conjoined 23rd birthday parties at John’s Buddha Hut. We had a unique celebration for our circle of friends as all Video Games were banned by penalty of Death, and the entire night was focused around played Board games instead (I know, I know, it’s just one typing of gaming to another). It was pretty damn great, we dabbled into some new games like “The Analyst” which totally failed, and also into Absolute Balderdash which really took off. By the end of the night there was some, how can I put it, negative energies at the party, you know who you are… Overall though, I enjoyed myself, and continued to enjoy myself with HeroQuest the next morning. Oh! How could I forget, CAKE CLUB the next morning was pretty damn great, and that’s all I can say about it.

The following Tuesday was reclaimed to me as a day off, because we had moved too fast at work. I ended up spending the day with Shane, where I convinced him to buy a Samsung 40” 1080p LCD TV and he convinced me to buy an Xbox 360 HDDVD Player, fair trade I would say… Maybe… Regardless we had a great time researching what would be best and getting me addicted to HD DVD’s, which I bought ‘V for Vendetta’, ‘First Blood’, ‘First Blood - Part II’, ‘Rambo 3′, and ‘Total Recall’ all which look fantastic I might add.

Now this is where it all goes downhill. I come into work on Wednesday feeling a bit off, my throat feeling a bit raw. This was only further compounded by the fact that my arch nemesis at work would be supervising me today. I don’t hate her per se, but she just has little quirks that annoy the fuck out of me. The Gods of Work must have hated me that day because as we were split up into teams, and I was assigned with her. I do admit we got along okay, but there was always that tension between us, and by 12:30pm I was feeling like utter ass, so I told May I was going home. I felt quite bad for leaving actually, because we were so down on staff that week and she was so stressed out. At the end of that day though, I have to look out for myself.

Oh man, how did I forget about TF2?!? That’s right ladies and gents Team Fortress 2 BETA was released last week and everyone has been having an absolute blast with it. At the moment I am enjoying the Medic, Sniper, Spy, and Heavy the most out of all the classes, but I haven’t really put in much time with any class other than those just listed. Spy is getting used the most at the moment for the simple fact it seems to be so damn ‘hax’, I have no problem using it to get behind enemy lines and decimate their base. There is an annoying bug in the game that is affecting people across all hardware specs where they cannot run the game using max settings. If they do, soon into the game it will crash for no apparent reason. Valve have released two sets of bugs fixes meant to combat this situation but so far none have worked.

On the weekend I had James, Tristan, Brian and Mickey D over to play some board games, which quickly turned into TF2, followed by Pizza, followed by a VERY long game of Absolute Balderdash, which included such Dashes as “Male Erectile Fraud Clinic”, LOL! Sunday was filled with X-Files as I have now finished three seasons, and will be starting Season 4 quite soon, and later that evening John, Debari and Woodford came over where I showed them a bit of HDDVD and after Woodford left to ’study’ we started our viewing of the Evil Dead trilogy.

Which leads me to today, still being sick, but I will leave you with a nice video review of Bioshock!

(Warcraft Orc Voice) Work, work, work…

Yup! Work was ghey today, had a total bitchfest with my manager in the morning, and didn’t talk to her for the rest of the day, DISS! Pretty much she was shitty with me towards the end of last week, and this morning singles me out for a trashing so, I… Uhh… Made my emotions know… I scored some awesome Halo 3 posters from the Microsoft rep, but I left them behind the layby counter, along with (thankfully) Season 3 and 8 of X-Files which now completes the entire collection for me to grab.

Totally grabbed Subway for lunch today with Debari, because he’s awesome, and we investiagted the latest Target Epic DVD Sale Catalogue, with nothing much of interest found. It also happened to be the only day Comic Box was closed, and to the Comic Box guy:

I WANT MY FUCKING X-MEN COMIC WHORE!

Enemy Territories: Quake Wars demo comes out tomorrow (1:00AM WST 11th September) and I can’t wait to give it ago. I just wonder if this game actually turns out to be good if it’ll be the next big thing? I don’t think I could handle this and Team Fortress 2 being crap, where else am I going to get my FPS Multiplayer fix from? Call of Duty 4 maybe? Urrgh, damn you gaming world.

Wooo! It’s my Birthday! Catalyst 7.9 Beta shaken with some S.E.T.I (not stired)

23 years ago to the day I was born into this world, who thought I would survive? I just woke up and it’s been a pretty great 15 minutes of wakefulness because no one is home! Presents to far include a AUD$150.00 JB HiFi voucher from James, Brian, Tristan and Mickey D from which the claim they caved into getting after several laps of the entire JB HiFi Myaree store, thanks guys! From my Momma, I got two pairs of pants, which probably means I can expect two shirts or similar from my Poppa. I awaiting in growing anticipation the forgetfulness of my sister, and the lateness of my brother…

Yesterday also marked the day that ATi released their new Catalyst 7.9 Beta drivers for the Enemy Territories: Quake Wars, which gladly also fixed the visual artifacting I was getting with my monitor, thanks ATi! This means that I can get hard into Bioshock and start to properly organise my PC for maximum efficiency. (Nerd alert?)

As you might know I am an avid participant of the SETI @ Home Project, not that I necessarily believe in that sort of thing, but I enjoy my CPU crunching data all the time and going towards some useful cause. Anyway, the past week has been stale for the project with declining work units at the beginning of the week, meaning my CPU sat idle, to today where I have not received a single work unit for at least 48 hours! I don’t ever remember the project having so many issues previously.

Before I go, check out this awesome Screenshot of my City of Villains character, Count Geiger with John’s character Electrojogger in the back! Thanks Tim!

Ratatouille and X-Files!

So, I watched Ratatouille last night and let me say it was pretty damn great. As per usual with Disney/Pixar films it had it’s own brand of comedic value and it was also touching to the heart. Something interesting to note is that the cinema was using a Digital Projector for the screening, and DAMN, was it bright and sharp. The image was beautiful except for one minor artifact that keep on occuring. On edges such as the rat fur, or white letters there was a red/green colour bleeding, which was really annoying,

At work today I also picked up Season 1 and 2 of X-Files for AUD$29.99 each, and have the rest of the series (Season’s 3-9) on hold! I totally can’t wait to relive the series, mostly becuase I can barely remember any of it, so it’s like watching a new series again.

Work was GHEY, going to watch Ratatouille!

Phew! Work was uber shizen today, don’t even want to talk about it really. One thing I will bitch about though is the fucking dust, it’s just everywhere and I am always sneezing! I just got home though and I am about to go out and see Ratatouille the new Disney movie from Pixar, which I love I might add! I really hope the movie is good, and quelling my doubts is that The West Australian newspaper movie review guy gave it 5/5 stars which is pretty damn good.

Well, now I am waiting for Debari to come and grab me and then we are on our way, I’ll let you all know what I think of it when I get back!

P.S. GH3 HYPE!
